ROCKINGHAM did not prove to be a happy hunting ground for north Hampshire drivers Nick Foster and Rob Collard in the British Touring Car Championship.

The West Surrey Racing BMWs struggled all weekend and never recovered from qualifying near the back of the grid.

Hook's Collard started from 17th in the first race and Odiham's Foster was 20th, but both found it hard going as Collard came in 18th and Foster was 16th.

Being in the pack, the pair were unable to post a quick lap for the grid of race two, so Collard started 18th and Foster was 20th.

Once again, Foster moved up to 16th, but Collard suffered problems with his car and finished way down in 28th place.

A day to forget, went from bad to worst in race three for Collard, as his car gave up on the parade lap and he never made it to the start line and he is now tenth in drivers' championship.

Meanwhile, Foster managed to get into the points as he finished 12th in his final outing on the Northamptonshire track.

Rob Collard's son Ricky also had a tough weekend at Rockingham in the MSA Formula Championship as he surrendered his championship lead to his Lando Norris.

Collard crashed in qualifying and so ended up at the back of the grid for race one and three.

The teenager fought his way through in both outings to eighth, but pole man Norris won race one and finished second in race three.

The middle race of the series saw a reverse grid, so Collard started in second and won which was his fifth victory of the season.

However, by the end of the day he found himself 17 points behind new championship leader Norris and there is now six races to go.

The next meeting is at Silverstone on weekend of September 26 and 27.
