ROB Collard had a weekend to forget at Snetterton in the British Touring Car Championship.

The Hook driver was hit on the opening lap of race one and two, before producing a storming drive in his last outing to finish 10th.

Collard qualified eighth on the grid and got a good start in race one as he passed his West Surrey Racing team mate Sam Tordoff, who had been sixth, as they headed down to the first corner.

However, Collard then received a big hit to the back of his BMW, which punctured one of his rear tyres. He was forced to limp the car back to the pits and took no further part in the race.

Starting from right at the back of the grid in race two, Collard was again hit on the opening lap, going into a tyre wall and damaging his suspension, so once again he had to drive back to the pits.

The car was fixed and he came out for a few laps at the end of the second race, but he started the final outing at the Norfolk track 20th on the grid.

Collard produced a great final drive as he forced his way all the way up to 10th for his only points haul of the day, a result that leaves him 10th in the drivers' championship.

Collard's son Ricky had a much better day in the MSA Formula Championship as he maintained his lead, but his advantage has been cut from 25 points to 10.

The young racer had gearbox problems in qualifying and was only able to do one flying lap.

He was fourth on the grid for race one and from there he collected another podium finish, coming home third.

In race two, he started from eighth in the reverse grid race and came in sixth, extending his drivers' championship lead to 26 points.

Collard's final outing was always going to be a tough one as he started right at the back of the field of 20 cars due to not being able to post a second qualifying time.

From here the teenager produced a great drive to finish ninth and limit the points loss to his nearest rival Lando Norris.

The father and son combination are next be in action at Knockhill on August 23.
