ROB Collard’s West Surrey Racing team travel to Snetterton this weekend, hoping to build on a superb British Touring Car Championship meeting at Croft, where they collected a hat-trick of wins.

The Hook racer is expecting this weekend’s meeting to be a lot harder as the championship ends its summer break and heads to Norfolk.

Collard said: “Croft was brilliant for the team, but during a recent test at Snetterton we were unable to match the straight-line speed of the front-wheel drive cars.

“I think we are in for tough weekend unless it is very hot.

“If temperatures are high then tyre wear will become an issue and could give us an advantage.”

Last time at the Norfolk track, Collard, who sits eighth in the drivers’ standings, found qualifying hard but finished ninth in the opening race and sixth in the final outing.

This weekend will see the return of the Motorbase team. They are expected to be among the front runners after heading the timing sheets at the Snetterton test.

Meanwhile, Rob’s son Ricky has had his lead in the MSA Formula Championship increased.

Dan Ticktum was excluded from the results of all three races at Croft following his crash with Lando Norris at the end of race one.

He won the final race of the day ahead of Collard, who has now been given the race win. His championship lead is now up to 25 points.

Collard has been testing at Silverstone ahead of the trip to Snetterton and the teenager enjoyed one of his best meetings of the season at the Norfolk track last year, finishing second and fourth.
