NORTH Hampshire racing driver Ollie Hancock claimed his third podium finish of the season at the latest round of the International Endurance Series.

The 27-year-old from South Warnborough travelled to Zandvoort, in Holland, for round three of the series, having finished third in class at both of the previous events.

There, he teamed up with co-drivers Devon Modell and John Gilbert in the Speedworks team's Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Modell qualified the car third in the SP3 category and took the first stint, holding his position before handing over to Hancock.

The north Hampshire man had an hour on the track before action ceased for the evening but he made it count, closing in on the top two.

Hancock was at the wheel again when racing resumed on day two and he put in an excellent stint, moving the car into the lead.

Modell and Gilbert were unable to keep Speedworks in front, but Hancock took the final stint and was able to secure second place in class.

Hancock said: "I'd only ever coached and tested at Zandvoort before the race so I'm delighted for myself and the team that we were able to pick up another podium.

"It was certainly an interesting experience to race a GT4 car at Zandvoort. There's very little run-off if you make a mistake and it's not like the track is especially wide either, so you have to keep your wits about you.

"Sometimes you have to temper your approach to avoid errors, but finishing second validated that decision."
