CHINEHAM saloon car driver Chris Mohan enjoyed a double podium success in the opening two rounds of the VAG Trophy Championship at the Snetterton 300 Circuit.

Mohan had high hopes as he travelled to the Norfolk circuit, having achieved podium finishes in his previous two seasons.

However, he was racing a car that had been partially re-built over the winter after a collision at Oulton Park.

Qualifying on a wet track saw Mohan’s ISN Golf GTi suffer with a lack of power. As a result, he was forced to start on the back row of the 18-car grid.

Between qualifying and the first race, the problem with the car was located and found to be a wiring issue with the air flow sensor on the intercooler.

This was rectified, but the success of this could only be proven under race conditions.

The Chineham driver made a storming start, making up six places before the end of the first lap.

He went on to finish 11th overall, and claiming third place in Class B for his first podium of the season.

Race two saw Mohan complete a double podium, with another third in Class B.

The Chineham driver will now be hoping to chase down top spot on the podium when the champion-ship moves to Brands Hatch for rounds three and four on May 16.

Mohan said: “I was very pleased with the first meeting and will look to do better next time.

“I must thank Kingswood Tyres, Intuitive Systems and Networks Ltd and JW Signs for their support and making my racing possible. It is greatly appreciated.”
