AFTER a slow start, the season ended on a high for Jason Nicoll with his best result for the year in round seven of the All Wheel Drive Club Britpact Safari Championship at Ilfracombe, North Devon.

Going into the event with suspension upgrades, Nicoll was looking for a good result. The Basingstoke driver had performed well in the past at the Devon coastal town on the fast flowing course and a mixture of terrain.

After run two, Nicoll had downshift problems with the gearbox hampering his run times throughout the rest of the event.

The day finished with a surprise result being first in class and ninth overall.

That was his best result of the year and, without the problems, could have been even better.

The last round of Nicoll's season and the championship was at Walters Arena South Wales.

Looking to build on his best result of the season in round seven, the Basingstoke driver’s day did not go well with brake failure on lap two but the service crew of John Randell, Bev Randell and Andrew Nicoll repaired them ready for the next runs.

The fast flowing nature of Walters Arena put the brake failure in the back of Nicoll’s mind.

The driver and navigator Kirstie Randell continued at a steady pace looking to finish in the last event of the championship – and the final result was second in their class and 11th overall. They felt that was a good result for the Krazybodywork.com sponsored Mattseratti.

The vehicle will now have a full rebuild over the winter period with the support of Keith Gott Landrovers in Alton – ready for even more success in the 2014 season.
