BASINGSTOKE superkart racer Ben Willshire will be hoping to make use of home advantage at Thruxton this weekend in the latest rounds of the 125 Open National Superkart Championships.

The racer will be in action on Saturday and Sunday and is currently fourth in the standings after a mixed time in his last outing in Snetterton.

In the first race he finished fifth and then in the more eventful second outing he was forced onto the grass to avoid a collision. Rejoining in last spot, he did well to battle back to 16th.

The final race at the Norfolk track was a non-championship race but the victor would win the coveted GP plate, which holds plenty of prestige in the world of karting.

Willshire started ninth on the grid and had to settle for another fifth place.
