10:38pm Sunday 22nd January 2012 in Ice Hockey By Graham Merry
FOR the second week running the Basingstoke Bison were shut-out on home ice as they lost 2-0 to the visiting Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday night.
In a tense contest from start to finish both netminders Basingstoke’s Matt Colclough and MK’s Barry Hollyhead took centre stage.
The opening goal of the contest came a minute into the second session from Leigh Jamieson.
In the final period, the home side out shot the visitors 17-2, but the only goal was scored by Ross Green who fired the puck off the side boards into the empty net after the Bison had pulled their goalie in the final minute.
The Herd were unable to beat Hollyhead as he recorded a 37 shot shut-out.
