THE BASINGSTOKE Bison will be out to silence the Telford Tigers roar once again on Saturday night when the Shropshire side travel south to Hampshire.
When the Tigers were last in town they were beaten 7-2 and the Herd would love to repeat that scoreline again.
However, when these sides met in the Tigers den last month the Bison had to come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 thanks to Daniel Volrab and a brace from leading scorer Joe Miller.
After losing their first home game in four outings against the Manchester Phoenix last Saturday, the Herd will be keen to bounce back to winning ways at the Basingstoke Arena.
Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “After losing both games last weekend we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible. Telford have a lot of young guys and will come ready to play. We have to make sure we play a smart game so we can get a result.”
Saturday’s game which starts at 6.30pm will also include the popular Teddy Bear Toss.
This annual event will see fans throw cuddly toys onto the ice after the Bison’ score their first goal of the game.
All the club ask is that the Teddies or whatever other animals fans bring to the rink are CE marked and placed in a protective bag to save them getting soaking wet when they hit the ice.a They will then be collected up and donated to the children’s hospice Naomi House.
On Sunday night, the Herd have a chance to avenge last Saturday defeat against Manchester when the travel to Altrincham to face the Phoenix.
When last at the Ice Dome they won 3-0 as Matt Colclough enjoyed his first ever shut-out in a Basingstoke jersey and previous to that the Bison only lost in overtime so confidence will be high in the visitors camp as they travel north.
Talking ahead of the game Moria said: “Manchester will come out more in their own rink and not sit back so this makes the game more free flowing and faster. We have had success their before and so no reason why we cannot again.”
