THE BASINGSTOKE Bison continued their stampede up the English Premier League table moving in to third place, after winning at Slough 4-1 on Saturday night.
The victory saw the Herd leapfrog over the Guildford Flames as the Surrey side lost in Swindon and got their toughest weekend of the season off to the perfect start.
The Bison led at the first buzzer thanks to a Mindy Kieras blue line shot at 11:34.
The second period continued to see visiting man-of-the-match Tom Annetts keep out the home forwards, while the Herd added two more to their tally.
Ondrej Lauko grabbed the first just two minutes after the interval and then Tony Redmond scored in the final minute of the session to make it 3-0.
With the news coming in that leaders Milton Keynes were heading for a comfortable win. It meant second placed Slough needed a big final 20 minutes.
Their leading scorer Blaz Emersic gave them some hope with a goal, but that was the only time Annetts was to be beaten.
Bison British forward Tom Long made sure of the result with the Herd’s fourth four minutes from time.
