SLOVAK sniper Ondrej Lauko helped himself to another hat-trick against the visiting Sheffield Scimitars as the Basingstoke Bison beat them 4-1 on Sunday night.
However, the Herd did not have it all their own way as it was the visitors who opened the scoring from Mark Stewart in the eighth minute.
The Bison equalised two minutes later from a powerplay strike from Lauko and the same player scored the only goal of the middle session again with the man advantage.
With both netminders Tom Annetts and Ben Bowns who picked up the man-of-the-match awards were in fine form and it remained 2-1 to the second buzzer.
The home side extended their lead to 3-1 as Steve Moria stepped out of the sin bin to latch onto a Nicky Chinn pass and score a great breakaway strike.
Lauko then wrapped up the scoring as fired into the empty with 40.6 seconds left on the clock.
See Thursday’s Gazette for a full report and preview of the Bison’s weekend games.
