THE Basingstoke under-16 Bison clinched the South 2 crown with a 4-1 victory over the only side that could have denied them the title – Streatham.

The win keeps the young Herd’s 100 per cent record intact this season and they will be looking to maintain that in their final home game against Milton Keynes on Saturday (face-off 4.30pm).

In Streatham last Sunday, Josh Richards opened the scoring, assisted by man-of-the-match Hallam Wilson and spirit-of-the-game winner Paul Petts.

In the second session, Wilson added a second and Kyle Tyrrell made it 3-0. A minute later, Wilson added a fourth on the powerplay from Max Florey and Petts.

Streatham then opened their account, but that was the only time Jordan Lawday was beaten as the visitors celebrated a victory and the league title, the first for the under-16s for a number of years.
