Tadley on a derby revenge mission

BRAGGING rights are up for grabs again on Tuesday night, when Tadley Calleva entertain Whitchurch in a Wessex League division one derby game at Barlow’s Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

When these sides last met, back in November, ’Church won their home encounter 1-0, with Ashley Childs getting the winner.

Before the two sides meet both teams are in action on Saturday, with Whitchurch having the chance to do their local rivals a favour as they travel to Hythe and Dibden, who are just above Tadley in the table.

The omens look good as the Longmeadow outfit have won their last three in an unbeaten league run of six games, while they won 4-2 when they played Hythe in December.

On that occasion, Matt Bennett scored twice, while Luke Walker and Nick Jupp were also on target.

This weekend, Tadley are at home to Pewsey Vale hoping for their first double of the season as back in October, in the away fixture, they won 2-0 with Jason Graham scoring both.

Meanwhile, in the Combined Counties League division one, Hartley Wintney will hope to maintain their promotion push as they travel to Spelthorne Sports.

Back in August, the village side were denied victory thanks to an injury-time equaliser in a 3-3 draw after Jack Coventry scored a brace and Jermaine Hamilton hammered home a third for Hartley.

With four straight wins under their belts, Hartley are certainly playing well at the moment, but seventh-placed Spelthorne will be no pushovers.

In the Hampshire Premier League, AFC Aldermaston go in search of another league double when they entertain Hamble.

When these sides last met in November, Aldermaston were 4-1 winners as Liam Tackley, Ashley Searle, an own-goal and Jamalur Rahman made up their winning tally.

Overton United face a tough trip to the University of Portsmouth hoping for much better fortunes than last time, when the Pompey side beat them 15-1.
