BOTH Basingstoke and North Hants and Hartley Wintney went out in the quarter-finals of the Southern Electric t20 Cup.

The Bountymen lost by 32 runs at holders South Wilts as the home side scored 151-9.

This was thanks to opener James Hayward (48) and Jack Mynott (53), while Martyn James (3-19) was the pick of the visiting bowlers.

Basingstoke looked in with a chance as they reached 73-2, with Dan Coombs (37) and Chris Froud (27) at the centre, but then the wickets started to fall and in the end they were all out for 119.

Hartley Wintney suffered the same fate as they were bowled out for 88, chasing a massive target of 233 for victory.

Lymington's Darren Cowley was the star of this game as retired injured on 108. His hard hitting 35-ball innings included 11 sixes and nine fours. It took him just 12 balls to reach his half-century.

Meanwhile, in the t20 Plate competition Hook and Newnham Basics cruised into the final four after 10 wicket win over visiting Sparsholt.

Shane Brewer (5-14) had a great afternoon with the ball, as he finished off with a hat-trick.

Jordan Hobday (54) and Ben Thane (34) knocked off the winning runs in just six overs.
