SIMON Beere scored twice as Basingstoke Buffalo narrowly lost 6- 5 at the Link centre to the Swindon Wildcats.

It was the home side who scored at 8:33 from Nathan Chilcott, but the visitors drew level as Franceso Tambellini netted an unassisted strike.

The Wildcats restored their lead before the first period break thanks to Toms Rutkis, and then scored three unanswered goals in the middle session to make it 5-1.

However, the Buffalo heads did not drop and Beere converted a pass from Neil Leary at 43:37.

They cut the deficit further thanks to Greg Martyn, as he fired home from Beere with 10 minutes left.

Swindon then netted their sixth of the contest, but a Kurt Tyrell strike and then man-of-the-match Beere’s second of the match, made it a one goal game with 55 seconds left.

The visitors tried to force a draw, but in the end Swindon held on to win to keep alive their slim hopes of the league crown.

The Buffalo’s final game of the season is on Sunday when they entertain title chasing Oxford City Stars (face-off 6.30pm).
