THE Basingstoke Bison were beaten by a goal 27 seconds from time as they lost 3-2 in Guildford on Sunday night.
The odds were stacks against the visitors with Joe Greener, Joe Miller and Jacob Corson-Heron all forced to sit the game out leaving the Herd with just seven forwards.
However, they took the lead on the powerplay from Joe Rand at 7:15 only for Curtis Huppe to level things by the first break.
The brave Bison took the lead again from Sheppard at 35:49 and still led going into the final period.
The home side level things from Huppe again and then scored the late winner on the powerplay as Tony Redmond sat in the sin bin.
