GOLFERS from across Hampshire raised thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support at Test Valley.

A total of 100 golfers took part in a golf day at the club, near Overton, raising an impressive £7,650 during the event.

A full handicap stableford team competition produced some excellent scoring with a team of cricketers from Easton and Martyr Worthy CC, Trevor Compton, Jamie Banks, Stuart Upcraft and Ben Stanbrough, securing first place with 98 points.

Other prizes were won by Eddie Martin, Hampshire Cricketer Sean Ervine, Jamie Ward, Kevin Cresswell, Barry Whittaker, Danny Wiltshire and Steve Berryman.

Alice Dewsnap-Smith, fundraising manager for Macmillan in Hampshire, said: “We are very grateful to Trevor and everyone who took part in the Macmillan Golf Day and the sponsors, family and friends who donated via Just Giving to raise such a fantastic amount.

“We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone and we can’t do it without amazing supporters who fundraise for us.

“The money the golf day has raised will help us be there for someone with cancer.”
