BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald moved up to ninth in the MENA Tour standings with a third-place finish at The GOLF CITIZEN Classic last week.

The 31-year-old travelled to The Els Club, in Dubai, for the tournament and was in contention throughout.

He got off to a solid start, shooting a one-under-par round of 71 on the first day, before hitting top form on day two, making eight birdies to card 66 (-6).

The Worting man was in with a chance of winning as he reached the turn at -3 on the final day.

He was unable to maintain his form on the back nine, dropping two shots, but he hit back on the 18th, making an eagle three to card 69 (-3) and move up to third on the leaderboard at -10, three shots behind the winner.
