NEITHER Stuart Archibald nor Will Fox were able to survive the cut at the latest EuroPro Tour event.

The Basingstoke golfers travelled to Chart Hills, in Kent, for the PDC Open last week, but both ended up coming home disappointed and early.

Archibald, a three-time winner on the EuroPro Tour, got off to a bad start, with bogeys at the second and fourth holes.

He recovered with birdies at eight and 14 but a dropped shot at 17 meant he had to settle for an opening round of 73 (+1).

Three bogeys in the opening six holes of his second round pretty much consigned Archibald to an early trip home, and while he made two birdies on the back nine, a round of 74 (+2) saw him miss the cut by five shots.

Fox was level at the halfway point of his opening round, while birdies at holes 10, 11 and 12 had him in a good position. Sadly, he ended badly, recording double-bogeys at 14 and 18 and also dropping a shot at the 16th to card a two-over-par round of 74.

Like Archibald, Fox made three bogeys in his opening six holes on day two, eventually carding 76 (+4) to miss the cut by eight strokes.

Neither player was in the field for the Cobra Puma Golf Open in Scotland, but Archibald is due to return to action at The Break90 Championship, which gets under way at Slaley Hall, in Northumberland, on Wednesday.
