GOLFERS at a north Hampshire course have raised thousands of pounds for charity so far this year.
Members have taken part in a wide range of activities to raise the cash, which will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK and Tadley Community Responders, the charities chosen by by club captain Bob Mitchell.
A variety of charity-branded merchandise, including pin badges, tees, pencils and hats, has been sold in the club shop, while raffles and auctions have been held at club events.
The captain's drive-in was also used as a money-spinner, with members paying to put tees in the ground where they thought Mitchell's opening drive as captain would land.
A quiz night also added to the coffers, with around £1,500 being raised from these events.
The boost income further, the club also held a one-day charity tournament, with 20 teams paying an entry fee to play, competing for both individual and team prizes.
Local companies chipped in with sponsorship and prizes, while a barbecue and live music kept people entertained in the evening, with the day as a whole raising around £2,000.
Yet more cash was raised by a sponsored walk, which saw 13 members set off from Hungerford and walk the 20 miles back to the club, taking in the Kennet and Avon Canal and Newbury town centre along the way.
It was a marathon, 20-hour trek, but the blisters and aching muscles were very much worth it as a further £2,000 was raised for the charities.
