BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald’s frustrating start to the EuroPro Tour season continued at The Buildbase Open.

The 30-year-old from Worting had been playing well during the spring, recording some good results in the Middle East.

He had been hoping to make a fast start to the EuroPro Tour campaign, but he has been unable to reproduce his best golf in the two tournaments so far, missing the cut at both.

Archibald travelled to Frilford Heath, in Oxfordshire, for The Buildbase Open.

He got off to a bad start, recording a double-bogey six at the first hole, and while he recovered, making a birdie at the second, further bogeys at holes five, seven, 15 and 16 resulted in an opening round of 77 (+5).

After making such a bad start, the HJS and Legend Alliance-sponsored player faced an uphill battle to make the cut as he began his second round.

Things were looking up when he made a birdie at the second hole and while he bogeyed the fifth, a birdie at the sixth had him back under par for the day.

A bogey at the ninth was followed by another birdie at 10, but double bogeys at 12 and 13 put an end to his faint hopes of qualifying for the third round.

He made a birdie at the last to card a two-over-par round of 74, but was a long way off surviving the cut, missing out by five shots.

Archibald is back in action at The Kerry London Championship, which gets underway at Burhill Golf Club, in Surrey, today.
