BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald has his sights set on early success as he gets his EuroPro Tour season under way.

The 30-year-old from Worting will this week play in the first event of the season, the World Snooker Open, which gets under way on The Montgomerie course at Celtic Manor, in Wales, tomorrow.

The EuroPro Tour is the third tier of golf in Europe, with the top five in the end of season rankings winning a place on the Challenge Tour, the European Tour's feeder tour, the following year.

Archibald has a decent record on the EuroPro Tour. He has won three events, with his most recent victory coming at the Walk in my Shoes Open in Ireland last year.

However, he has never been able to win more than one event during a single season and make the jump to the Challenge Tour, something he wants to change in 2015.

“I want to go out and win two events early on the EuroPro Tour, because I really want to get onto the Challenge Tour or above for 2016," Archibald told The Gazette.

"If I can win two events early on, I’ll probably get invites to Challenge Tour events for the rest of this season, so that is the aim.”

Archibald, who finished ninth on the EuroPro Tour order of merit last year, is in action again next week, competing at The Buildbase Open, at Frilford Heath, in Oxfordshire.
