PAUL Murphy claimed a narrow victory in Hartley Wintney Golf Club’s March Stableford.

A total of 37 points was enough to win the event, Murphy edging out Paul Dooley on countback. Andy Morgan beat Tony Davie to third place on countback after both had amassed 36 points.

The Martin Vase Pairs, a four ball better ball competition, was won by Adrian Squibb and Barry Stewart with 47 points. John Comfort and Steve Baker were a point back in second, with James May and Duncan Syme third on 44.

Nick Wilmot won the club’s March midweek medal thanks to a nett round of 70 (-1), beating playing partner Shaun Lewis by a single stroke. Phillip Reid took third place ahead of Geoff Critcher on countback after both scored 72 (+1).

Peter Murray was the winner of the March Seniors Stableford thanks to a 37-point haul, beating John Walker on countback. Stephen Lines was two points back in third.

Brian Rossiter won the March Midweek Stableford with 37 points. Peter Fletcher’s was second with 32 points, beating Stuart Arthur on countback.

Hartley Wintney’s ladies’ team – Nicky Harden, Linda Turner, Julie Rumsby and Cheryl Scott – enjoyed an excellent 4.5-0.5 win over visiting Tylney Park to reach the third round of the Mail on Sunday Classic.
