JUSTIN Rose slipped down to seventh place in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings, after he finished joint 48th at the HSBC Champions at Sheshan International.

Bubba Watson won the event after a dramatic play-off victory, over South African Tim Clark, as the pair finished on -11.

Rose was 16 shots back from the winner on +5, after he only managed one round under par.

He started the tournament well, with birdies on holes two and six, but these were soon cancelled out by dropped shots at eight and 11.

The north Hampshire golfer then finished his round with a mixed bag, as birdies was followed by a bogeys from holes 14 to 17 in a par round of 72.

The following day, Rose had a solid opening nine holes as he dropped just one shot at the fifth.

He then bogeyed 11, but finished strongly with birdies at 14, 15 and 18 for a one-under-par 71.

It was to all go wrong for the 34-year-old in his third round in the event, as he fired a 76 which included a double bogey at the eighth - the longest hole on the course at 603 yards.

He ended the tournament with another mixed round, as he hit two birdies to finish, but dropped shots at 8,9,10 and 12 saw him card a two-over-par 74.
