BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald claimed a share of second place in his latest event on the Mena Tour.

The 30-year-old, who is enjoying the best season of his career, finished just one shot behind the winner at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic at Tower Links Golf Club.

An opening round of 70 (-2) had him in contention after the first day and while a second round of 71 (-1) left him with work to do to on the final day.

However, a final round of 68 (-4) saw him move up the leaderboard into a three-way tie for second place on -7, a result that leaves him sixth on the tour’s money list.

Archibald will return to the Middle East for the next Mena Tour event at Ghala Valley Golf Club, which gets under way on Sunday.

The next few weeks look set to be busy for the Worting golfer, who will juggle the climax of both the Mena and EuroPro Tours and European Tour Qualifying.
