PLENTY of trophies were handed out as the season came to a dramatic climax during finals day at Hartley Wintney Golf Club.

A total of five finals took place on the same day, with members able to follow the progress of each game from the clubhouse.

The Club Medal final saw Tony Wise take on Mark Chandler, with Chandler edging a tight match, winning 2&1 on the 17th green.

Linda Turner beat Denise Duce by the same score to lift the Collard Cup.

The Joyce Morris Cup, a mixed foursomes competition, was won by Jamie and Anita Hobdell, who beat Kevin Pigney and Niki Orchard 3&2 in the final.

Another foursomes event, the White Cup, saw club champion Ian Callaway and partner Keith Powell come up against Kevin Pitcher and Mike Kelly. A close match came down to the final hole, but Callaway picked up another trophy as he and Powell claimed a two-up victory.

The fifth final to be played on the day saw Nikki Harden and Cheryl Scott beat Jan Newman and Chris Warman 2&1 in the final of the Millennium Vase, a ladies fourball competition.

There were supposed to be six matches on the day, but the final of the Pairs Knockout had to be played two days earlier as one of the players, Mike Kelly, also made the final of the White Cup.

He and partner Adrian Squibb took on Alun Lamerton and Steve Randell, but 18 holes could not separate them. The pairs were still level after three extra holes but the match finally came to a conclusion when Lamberton made a birdie at the 22nd.
