STUART Archibald hit a hole-in-one on his way to a share of 39th place at the final event of the EuroPro Tour’s regular season.

The 30-year-old from Basingstoke aced the 201-yard, par-three 17th hole during the second round of The Glenfarclas Open at Earl of Mar, in Scotland.

It was a good day for him overall, with the hole-in-one helping him to a six-under-par round of 64, which moved him up the leaderboard following an opening round of 71 (+1).

However, a final round of 73 (+3) saw Archibald finish the tournament in 39th place on -2, 14 shots behind the eventual winner.

The result leaves the Worting golfer eighth in the order of merit going into the final event of the season, the Visit Egypt Tour Championship, which will take place at El Gouna in late October.

Archibald is currently £5,000 outside the top-five place he needs to secure a spot on the Challenge Tour next season, but a top-three finish at the final event would be enough to get him there.

In the meantime, the Legend Alliance-backed golfer has travelled to the Middle East to compete on the MENA Tour. He finished in a tie for seventh at his first event, the Dubai Creek Open, thanks to rounds of 71 (par), 72 (+1) and 69 (-2).
