DAWN Nicholson claimed victory in the Test Valley Golf Club Ladies’ Championship.
The event had to be shortened from 36 to 18 holes due to adverse weather and Nicholson’s 20-over-par score of 92 was enough to beat second-placed Moyna Chown by a single shot. Julie Ede was five shots further back in third.
Jenny Winch won the handicap title thanks to a nett score of 78 (+6), beating Linda Temple on countback. Marion Griffiths was two shots back in third.
The club’s men’s team are through to the last 16 of the nationwide Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic after beating Osborne Golf Club 3-2.
Ryan Harrison and Bob Sturt lost their matches but Dave Brown (7&6), John Say (3&2) and John Cogan (3&2) all won theirs to send Test through to the next round where they will host Cotswold Hills.
