NORTH Hampshire golfers Tara O’Herlihy and Shai Emily Carter helped Hampshire’s girls’ team maintain their unbeaten record this season.
The team hosted Wiltshire at Royal Winchester, drawing 3-3 with their visitors.
Basingstoke GC’s O’Herlihy found herself three down after six holes but hit back to win her match 2&1, while Sherfield Oaks’ Carter faced a difficult task as she was giving her opponent seven shots over the course of the round.
The match was even throughout, but Carter lost out in the closing stages, going down by one hole.
The girls are back in action next weekend, travelling to Clandon Regis GC to take on Surrey.
Oakridge golfer Charlie Manning finished as the sixth-placed amateur at the Hampshire Open Championship, which took place at Hockley Golf Club last week.
His 12-over-par total of 154 was also good enough for fourth place in the handicap competition, playing off one.
