TADLEY golfer Kenneth Smyth will team up with Bishopswood GC professional Steve Ward to compete for a trip to Ryder Cup venue Gleneagles next week.
The 51-year-old, who plays off a handicap of 16, won the Lombard Trophy qualifying competition at Bishopswood and will partner Ward in the regional final at Camberley Heath on Tuesday, where 70 pairs will compete for 16 spots in the final.
The grand final of the competition will be played over 36 holes at Gleneagles in September, just three weeks before Europe and America do battle for the Ryder Cup at the same venue.
Eddie Hubert and Danny Fisher from Basingstoke GC, Dave Cutherbertson and Richard Lewington from Sherfield Oaks and Alun Lamerton and Martin Smith from Hartley Wintney GC will also be in action at Camberley Heath.
