MEMBERS at Weybrook Park Golf Club have raised almost £9,000 for a Basingstoke school over the course of the past year.
Saxon Wood, a special school for children with physical disabilities and complex medical needs, lies close to the entrance of the Rooksdown club, making it the obvious choice to benefit from members’ efforts.
Captains Barry Coomber, Margaret Quinn and Norman Rolfe held numerous events over the course of the year, including their respective captains’ days, and a grand total of £8,825 was donated to the school earlier this month.
Richard Parratt, headteacher at Saxon Wood, said: “I would like to thank all the members of Weybrook Park Golf Club for choosing Saxon Wood as their charity for 2013-14 and raising such a large amount of money for us. I hope we can continue this relationship going forward.”
The link between the club and the school will continue this year, with the incoming captains confirming that Saxon Wood will remain the club’s chosen charity for 2014-15.
