ADVENTURE AS were at Court Farm on Sunday last where Mark Blackmon put pole and pellet to good use and won with 68lb 8oz of carp. Mick Fordham utilised pole, bread and corn for his 50lb 12oz of carp, Scott (meatloaf) Nelson weighed in 35lb 8oz on pole and corn followed by Darren Wrights’ 25lb 12oz. Sixteen fished and caught.

Kennet Ospreys match at a reconfigured Greenridge Farm saw in form Bartosz Recki top out on lake four with 46lb of carp on pole and maggot, John Light also used pole and maggot for his 35lb 1oz, lake three put Ian Jones in pole position with his 28lb 3oz of carp on pole and maggot, Graham Shadwell weighed in 17lb 11oz. Fifteen fished some did not weigh.

Basingstoke Railway Club were at Cheriton Farm last Sunday, where I fluked a win with 27lb 8oz of carp on pole and mag. Alan Wells used feeder tactics for his 22lb 8oz of carp. Dave Edwards put 15lb 8oz on the scales, followed by Keith Brown’s 14lb 4oz. Twelve fished and all caught.

Camrose AC went to New Barlows Lake last Sunday where Jason Marcham put the pole and maggot to good use and won with 36lb 14oz of bream and carp, Brian Orchard’s 18lb 3oz of carp was a pole and maggot affair, Paul Follington caught 10lb 8oz of skimmers for third spot. Ten fished and two did not catch.

Kennet Ospreys recent match at Willow Park gave Bartosz Recki the win with 10lb 9oz of mixed on pole and soft pellet, John Light was second fishing pole and maggot and weighing in 7lb 14oz, Phil Rogers came next on 7lb 11oz followed by Steve Hunt with 6lb 6oz. Twenty one fished and not all weighed.

Camrose were at Cheriton Farm recently and confronted with frozen conditions Ralph Sneddon did well to win with 20lb 8oz of carp on pole and bread, Keith Brown’s pole and maggot caught 7lb was good enough for second spot, followed by Pip Seeney who caught 4lb 8oz. Fourteen fished and caught.

Having just returned from my winter break in Tenerife with ‘er indoors, I am surprised how many anglers braved the elements and caught fish in my absence, a testament to the dedication of anglers or is it mid winter madness.
