SALISBURY and District AC ran their annual teams of four events on the rivers Avon and Nadder on Sunday last, and with a lot of the West Countries top rods fishing competition was fierce.

Kennet Ospreys pulled off a remarkable win by taking two sections, being second in one and third in the other, only dropping three points, so well done to Ian Jones, Mick Donohoe, Steve Telford and Simon Kiefer.

Adventure AS were at Longmoor Farm last Sunday, and Mick Fordham won it with 53lb of carp on the long pole and maggot. Rob Gallagher put 32lb 12oz in the net on pole and pellet, while Nick Sargent weighed 22lb 12oz.

Fourteen fished and weighed.

Camrose AC fished at Frobury Two last Sunday, where Darren (Dodgy) Brown won with 17lb 8oz of carp on pole and mag. Pip Seeny was second with 15lb 8oz of mixed on pole and mag, with Danny Williams third on 10lb 12oz.

Ten fished and caught.

Kennet Ospreys' match at Dandy's Ford was a case of déjá vue for Roger Beale, drawing the same peg and obtaining the same result as his previous match there, winning with 71lb of carp. Pete Newman was next on 54lb 8oz, followed by André Grandjean's 45lb 8oz. Andy Leith made up the frame on 44lb.

Twenty-four fished and caught.

Oxoid AC were at New Barlows for their latest match, where Geoff North nailed it with four carp on pole and pellet for 14lb. Harry Roach came second with 12lb of mixed on pole and mag, followed by Pete Matthews with 11lb 9oz.

Nine fished not all caught.

Basingstoke Railway Piscatorials took themselves to Cove Pit, where "Granddad" Colin Ariss won with 79lb 8oz of carp on pole and corn. Lyn Matthews was just behind with 79lb of carp on pole and worm. Yours truly managed third spot with 70lb on pole and paste, while Brian O'Donnell fished the feeder for his 68lb 11oz.

Fifteen fished and caught.

I took 'er indoors with me to buy a car I'd seen advertised in The Gazette. Surprise, surprise, she said it was ugly. I bit my tongue as the obvious retort came into my head.
