THE weight of the week belongs to Tadley Angling’s Kevin Roberts, who hauled 259lb of carp on maggot and pole to win the Stacey’s match group fixture at Cove Pit, in Theale.

Daniel Butler made second spot on 180lb using pole and corn in the margins, Kevin Smith concentrated all day for his 148lb of margin-caught carp, while Steve Davis fished pole and meat for his 140lb 14oz.

Thirteen fished and all caught.

Adventure AS did proper fishing on the River Thames at Little Stoke on Sunday last, where Nobby Branton, who owns up to being 80-something, put the field to shame by topping out with 12lb 3oz of roach and perch on caster under the waggler.

Colin Shepherd fished with pole and tares for his 9lb 13oz of roach, match secretary Nick Sargent’s grounbait and caster approach yielded 8lb 15oz of roach, with Mick Fordham’s 4lb 8oz being fourth.

Eleven fished and caught.

Camrose AC went to Frobury Farm Lake Two, where ‘top two’ Terry Bowles did the business with 79lb 9oz of carp on pole and meat.

Brian Orchard’s 45lb 13oz was good enough for second place, Danny Williams caught 33lb 13oz of carp on paste, whilst Pete Morris made up the frame on 31lb 13oz.

Last Sunday’s Kennet Ospreys match was cancelled due to a lack of support.

Last week’s Adventure AS match at Frobury Farm put Rob Gallagher on the podium with 80lb 12oz of carp on pole and meat. Graham Spiller put pole and maggot to good use for his 53lb 8oz of carp, Alan Chadnone made third with 52lb, with Kevin Smith on 51lb to make up the frame.

Ospreys’ latest match was at Greenridge Farm, where Ray Shepherd topped out with 153lb 12oz of carp on maggot, groundbait and pole. Mark Parsons took second place with 114lb 4oz, venue ace Pete Newman weighed 99lb 12oz of carp on maggot and pole, while Neil Shepherd caught 75lb 8oz.

Eighteen fished and caught.

Camrose AS were at Whitehouse Lake last week and Brian Orchard won the match with 42lb 7oz of mixed on pole and pellet. Bill Atkinson’s 39lb took second place, followed by Ralph Sneddon’s 30lb 10oz and Chris Hopgood’s 16lb 10oz.

Twelve fished and caught.

Basingstoke Railways Piscatorials went to Dandy’s Lane Fishery for their latest match, where yours truly managed to fluke a win with 137lb 14oz of carp on pole and paste. Colin Ariss used corn on the hook under the pole for his 116lb 8oz, while Lynn Matthews showed what a good angler she is, bagging 103lb 8oz.

Rob Carr came next on 98lb 14oz, followed by Keith Brown with 92lb. Sixteen fished and caught.

I’m off to Majorca for a week to lay in the sun and be forced to watch ladies beach volleyball. It’s a hard life.
