A YOUNG horse rider who trains in north Hampshire has romped to double gold in the Junior Eventing European Championship.

Sienna Myson-Davies, who trains with Mark Corbett at Rawlins Farm, in Monk Sherborne, collected individual and team gold in the championships, which were held at Thirlestane Castle, in Scotland, recently.

The 16-year-old was the top individual by seven marks, winning all three sections of the competition. She scored well in the dressage before putting together clear rounds in the cross-country and show jumping to become European champion.

The British team also picked up team gold, beating off competition from 15 other countries.

Myson-Davies, who lives near Guildford, began working with Corbett because he trains the South East England Junior team.

"We have the national junior championships coming up in October," he said.

"I have a new band of young riders coming through, including a young girl from Basingstoke called Lauren Innes, and we hope to do well there."
