Borough stars shine at county awards

BASINGSTOKE sports stars picked up three awards at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sport Awards, which took place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday night.
Footballer Danielle Bird was named as winner of the Senior Sportswoman award, athlete David Elderfield collected the award in the Veteran Sportsman category and young swimming sensation Lisa Collingridge won the Junior Disability Sportswoman award.
A total of 12 people from Basingstoke and Deane were finalists, more than any other area.
