JACK Hempstead was the most surprised winner of the night as he had not been nominated in any of the categories, but scooped the Special Achievement award which was presented on the evening.
Jack is a popular member of the Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club which he joined over four years ago.
The 16-year-old from Lychpit said: “I am in shock as I never expected to win anything and I was wondering why I had been invited as I had not been nominated for an award.”
After being overweight when he joined the club and often the back marker in long-distance running events.
The teenage who also trains younger athletes won a medal last year at the Hampshire Championships for the hammer with a bronze and now is looking to do the same this year in the 1500m and he has also had a very good winter in the cross country league.
