CONSIDERING the weather conditions over the weekend it was a testament to the enthusiasm and durability of the local anglers that any fish were caught at all.

Kennet Ospreys fished a silver fish match at Willow Park on Sunday last where venue expert Ken Russell topped out with 8lb 9oz of mixed on pole and maggot over ground bait, Givanni Barbatto use a similar method for his 8lb 7oz of mixed, Bartosz Recki made third place with 7lb 8oz followed by (top two) Terry Bowles on 6lb 8oz. Fourteen fished and caught.

Staceys Match Group were at Whitehouse Lake last Sunday and it was Matt Butler who sorted best netting 36lb of carp on pole and mag. Paul (the enforcer) Follington caught 24lb 10oz of carp on wag and mag for second spot. Andy Wicks’ 17lb 12oz of mixed was next followed by Scott Butler with 17lb 6oz, Keith Brown blanked but that's our secret. Thirteen fished.

Adventure AS went to Court Farm last Sunday where Mick Fordham posted a rare win netting 124lb 8oz of carp on pole and maggot, Graham Spiller pole and corned it for his 122lb of carp, Gary Hermon used meat under the pole for his 89lb 4oz, Graham Shadwell’s 87lb 12oz made up the frame. Twelve fished and caught.

Camrose AC fished at Old Barlows Lake last Sunday and Pat Finn won it with 9lb 12oz of carp on pole and mag, Pete Morris caught carp for 9lb on pole and mag. Jason (the paste) Marcham’s 9lb of mixed fell to pole and mag. Ten fished and three blanked.

Camrose go to Soke Road this coming Sunday, Ospreys are at Dandys Ford Fishery whilst Adventure AS are going to Milton Pools near Oxford for a silver fish bash. Staceys Match Group’s next match is at Dandys Ford on February 18th.

I have not been fishing since I came back from Tenerife, due to me feeling the cold and the wet weather, ‘er indoors is looking wistfully at the temperatures in sunnier climes but with a few good venues coming up I will remind her of the cost.
