BASINGSTOKE'S Anaya Patel scooped a silver medal for England in the Home Countries International in Guernsey.
The busy tournament saw two days of team competitions followed by an individual event as England took on Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey in senior, junior and cadet age groups.
Patel, 13, was played doubles Ruby Chan in the junior event and they beat Jersey, Guernsey, Scotland and Isle of Man 5-0 and Ireland 4-1. However, a 4-1 defeat to Wales meant they had to settle for silver.
Unfortunately, there was to be no individual medal for Patel.
She beat Amy Wesley of Guernsey 3-0 (11-5, 12-10, 11-7) in the first round, but was then defeated 3-1 (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6) by Ireland’s Mia O’Rahilly-Egan in the quarter-finals.
