BASINGSTOKE Hockey Club pushed back it’s season with it’s season opener last Saturday.

Over 100 players attended, including some new faces returning after enjoying the summers’ Back2Hockey initiative.

A barbecue was enjoyed a lunchtime in the sunshine, whilst the clubhouse was kept open for a very enjoyable social evening to round off the day.

The Ladies first team were keen to get a jump on the season having been promoted for the second season running, and so travelled to Trojans who are in the league above, for a tough friendly match.

The score was 3-0 to Trojans by half time, however the second half was level pegging as Sharon Stones set up Roxy O’Dee for Basingstoke’s only goal, whilst Trojans only managed to put one more past Gemma Carswell, whose sterling performance kept Basingstoke in the match.

Adult club training will now run from 7pm on Wednesday and Thursdays, while Youth is on Mondays from 7pm for under-14 and under-16 and Mini’s will begin this coming weekend at 9am.

Basingstoke Hockey Club is a family friendly and very social hockey club that always welcomes new players and volunteers of all abilities.
