ODIHAM hockey star Alex Danson scored the final goal for England, as they began the defence of their EuroHockey title with a convincing 4-1 win over Ireland in Holland.
Laura Unsworth, Ellie Watton and Sophie Bray were also on the scoresheet, as the holders started their Pool B campaign with a superb win.
The victory capped off a special day for England, who were also celebrating the one-year anniversary of Great Britain’s Olympic Gold medal win at Rio 2016.
Next for the team is a game against Germany in Pool B today, which starts at 4.45pm BST.
