BASINGSTOKE Table Tennis ace Anaya Patel had a great weekend at the English National Table Tennis Championships, as she won the girls’ under-13 doubles crown with Ruby Chan.

The pair won a thrilling final after a great comeback from Millie Rogove and Samadhi Udamulla.

Top seeds Patel and Chan won the first two sets 11-9 and 11-7, only for their opponents to reply winning the next sets 11-7 and 11-9 sending the match into a decider.

At this point, Patel and Chan showed their class winning it 11-3.

The winning pair progressed to the final in a serene manner fitting of top seeds.

They won all their three games in straight sets.

It started with an 11-4, 11-2 11-5 victory over Rebecca Rigg and Genevieve Holchaks.

Next up was a win against Erin Richards and Angharad Beman 11-4, 11-8, 11-4.

The pair booked their place in the final after an 11-6, 11-10, 11-3 success over Kirsty Maull and Amilia Baker.

Patel also took part in the singles competition at the same venue, but unfortunately, the Basingstoke player was knocked out in the last eight losing to the eventual winner Sophie Chang 11-8, 11-9, 11-10.

This was her last tournament of the season and capped a great season, as Patel is currently ranked number three in England at under-13 and ranked 24 at under-18.
