BASINGSTOKE gymnasts enjoyed their most successful regional championships to date with a huge medal count.

The club now have five regional champions with 10 all around medals.

As well as this they won 18 apparatus golds, 24 silvers and 18 bronze medals for 75 medals in total.

There five regional champions were Louis David (under-eight), Jamie Iamsamang (under-10), Christian Amison (under-12), Sebastian Herbert (under-16 development) and Tom Hassell (under-18 FIG).

l In the Pipers Vale Challenge which has become one of the largest competitions in the Men’s Artistic calendar having doubled in size since the Olympics.

Basingstoke entered eight boys in this competition.

Five in the under-12 age category and three in the under-10s.

In a field of 73 gymnasts, Christian Corneal was their most successful gymnast by coming third place all around with a silver medal on pommels, a bronze on vault and a bronze on horizontal bar.

Christian Amison won gold on pommels and Elijah Boyton won bronze on pommels, as Basingstoke completed a clean sweep of the pommel medals.

Christian Amison was positioned in 10th in the all around with Max Davies in 22nd place.

Davies’ floor score equalled third place and was only separated by the E jury count back rule.

Boyton was 41st all around. Ben Williams could only compete on four out of the six pieces and posted respectable scores for his efforts.

In the under-10s Jamie Iamsamang was 32nd, Oliver Owen-Thomas 38th and Luke Everett 57th out of 89 gymnasts.
