THE Basingstoke sporting community host friends from German twin Euskirchen for the 25th Anniversary Festival of Sport this weekend.

Nearly 200 visitors from Germany ranging from 10 to 75 years of age will arrive on this evening.

They will be hosted by their partner sports clubs and schools for a great weekend of friendship, culture, sport and fun.

Summit Judo will host a competition at the AWE Rec Soc on Saturday afternoon from 2pm Down Grange on Saturday morning will see the athletes of Basingstoke Mid Hants take on their German counterparts.

The Vyne School will see an archery tournament on Friday afternoon from 3pm and the following morning tennis takes centre stage at Totally Tennis.

Saturday will also see a number of football matches involving Sherborne Football Club at Queen Mary’s College both in the morning and afternoon.

There will also be football at Barlow’s Park, with Tadley Calleva in action on Saturday morning.

All events count toward the prestigious bronze trophy will results and a celebration evening being held at Queen Mary's College on Saturday evening.

The Euskirchen visitors leave for home on Sunday morning to begin planning for the 2018 event in Germany.
