TADLEY teenager Charlotte Huddart will make her Great Britain debut at the Target Sprint World Championship in Suhl Germany this weekend.

The 17-year-old a former student of The Hurst and Bishopswood School and currently studying at Queen Mary’s College.

Huddart said: “I am very excited about the competition and representing Great Britain is a major highlight in my life so far.”

Target Sprint is a run and shoot discipline, where competitors run 400 metres then shoot at five knock down targets.

This is followed by another 400 metres and another five shots, before a final 400 metres to the finishing line.

The British girls normally take around 35 seconds to knock down their five targets.

This is the first time that British Shooting have sent a team to the Target Sprint World Championships.

This is a new sport to Britain, but popular in the United States, Japan and a number of European countries.

So this is very much a voyage in to the unknown for the British team and over the two days there are various competitions.

It starts on Saturday with the individual events and then on Sunday there are men’s women and mixed relays.

The Tadley teenager is part of team of three girls going to Germany and last weekend saw the team enjoyed their final training session in Bristol.

Huddart is a precision rifle shooter and started shooting with Baughurst Scouts five years ago.

After showing considerable shooting talent she moved on to the Scouts National Shooting Squad.

From here she was selected to be part of the Great Britain Junior Rifle Squad and then took up Target Sprint during a precision rifle shooting training session one weekend.
