THE Basingstoke Hockey Ladies secured back-to-back promotions with a 2-2 draw at home to Epsom.

Next season they will play in South Division One, the highest level the team have ever played.

Having gone a goal down to Epsom in the first 10 minutes, Basingstoke fought back before half time with a well worked team goal.

Mel Trevaskis playing through to Fi Parker, who played in captain Catriona Bausor to score.

In the second half, Basingstoke scored early when Rachel Bomphrey won a penalty corner, which Roxy O’Dea converted.

Unfortunately, Epsom scored with just a minute to go to share the points.

The ladies will look to secure the title next week away at Havant.

The ladies first team also enjoyed success in the quarter final of the Hampshire Cup on Sunday, away at Yateley, winning 9-0.

The goals came from Catriona Bausor (4), Claire Griffiths (3), along with Kirsty Brown and Kirsty Kent.

The men’s thirds also guaranteed promotion to Hampshire Division Four with a 3-1 win at home to Gillingham.

They led 1-0 at the break from John Paul Vout and quickly added a second in the second half from Mikhail Saujani.

Gillingham then scored from a penalty corner, before Adam Neighbour netted the home side's third.

Elsewhere, the ladies fourths remain top of Hampshire Division Five, despite losing 2-1 at home to Chichester, with Sharon Holden scoring their lone strike.

The seconds beat Southampton 1-0, the goal being scored by Ruth Crawford, following good link up play from Kirsty Brown, Sarah Shearing and Rachel Roberts.

The fifths moved up to fourth with a 5-1 win away at Haslemere thanks to goals from Jo Lockyer (3), Tricia Flynn and Katie Hossick.

The thirds lost 6-0 away at league leaders New Forest, but beat Portsmouth and Southsea 3-1 on Sunday in the Hampshire Trophy quarter-final.

The men’s firsts drew 2-2 away at London Academicals on Saturday.

Basingstoke broke the deadlock after the break from Mark Smith and Danny Bowden then made it 2-0, before the home side scored twice to share the points.

The men also played Barnes away on Sunday in a re-arranged league game and lost 3-0.

The men’s seconds drew 3-3 at home to Chichester. Basingstoke’s first goal came from Jacques Lourens before Alex Miller scored a penalty stroke after the Chichester goalkeeper was sent off.

Greg Smith got Basingstoke’s third goal, but Chichester scored just before full time to share the points.

The fourths had a double header weekend, firstly losing at Fleet and Ewshot in the league 4-1, as captain Eliot Boyd scored.

It was a better story for the team in the Hampshire Trophy as the reached the last four with a 2-1 home win against Isle of Wight.

Callum Saint scored first through a penalty corner strike and Adam Neighbour the second both in the first half.

The Vikings drew 2-2 at home to Aldershot and Farnham, and the fifths lost 5-1 away at Salisbury, their goal coming from a penalty stroke by Chris Jenkins.
