Mandi Miles retained her Senior Disability crown and continues to look to break down the barriers for disable people in martial arts.
The 40-year-old from Ramsdell wowed the crowds at the World Union of Karate Do Federations World Championships in Dublin with a demonstration at the opening ceremony with fellow Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts co-owners Bryan and Lindsey Andrews.
She then went onto win a gold medal and be crowned world champion at the same event in Ireland.
Miles, the club's business manager. admitted that performing at the opening ceremony had been a the highlight of 2016 as it was a great way to showcase what cane be done by disabled competitors.
