THE first ever world record status indoor tournament held by the Old Basing Archers proved a great success at Hampshire Court Hotel.

More than 100 archers from 25 clubs across the land assembled for three rounds of shooting.

“It was great fun and a great success,” said organiser and Old Basing secretary Andy Caine. “We will do it again next year and it will be even bigger and better.”

The men’s recurve winner was Ken Harper from Harrow with Old Basing’s Matt Brown in second.

Old Basing Archers’ Ned Groom took first place in the junior men’s recurve with Alex Allam from Overton Black Arrows in third.

Old Basing’s Mark Haldane took third place in the Gents’ compound, which was won by Luke Ralls from RN South Coast Archers.

Eva Wong from Old Basing came third in the women’s barebow, which was won by Eastbourne's Michaela Lake.

Other winners were: Forest of Bere trio Sarah Lupton (women’s recurve), Oliver Blake (junior men’s compound) and Jeanette Holder (ladies compound). High Weald's Jason Meeham (men’s barebow), Warfields's Lisa Grandon (ladies longbow) and Guildford's Kevin Butler (men’s longbow).
