VETERAN swimmer Morris Dick got his new season off to a flying start with four gold medals in South East Region Championships in Crawley winning four goal medals.

The 75-year-old from Brighton Hill completed a clean sweep of medals for the breaststroke and then swimming the breaststroke leg added a relay gold medal as well.

The first day of the event saw Dick triumph in the 100 metres breaststroke which he swam in 1min 46.03 seconds in his 75-79 category, but would have won gold for the 60, 65 and 70 age group category He returned to the pool the following morning to win the 50m in the afternoon took the 200m crown also in the 75-79 category.

In between time he found time to swim the in the men’s 4 x 50m medley relay, which saw his Spencer Team just miss their own British record by half a second, but still took the gold.

The combined ages of the four swimmers was 281 and their time for the event was a very impressive 2min 34secs His next event is at the beginning of March which is the Welsh Open Masters in Swansea with his eyes finally set on the World Masters Championships being held in Hungary in early August.
