BUCKSKIN Darts ace Paul Hogan is really looking forward to once again competing in the British Darts Organisation World Championships at Lakeside in Frimley Green.

The 53-year-old delivery driver will be hoping to steer his way through his preliminary round on Sunday afternoon against American Tom Sawyer from Boston, who is making his Lakeside debut.

Hogan broke off from practicing with his arrows and said: “This is my eighth time at Lakeside and the seventh time I have made it through the play-offs which is the hardest way. I am feeling good at the moment at the way I am playing.”

Hogan was last at Lakeside in 2014, but suffered a first round exit, but has twice made the quarter-finals in 1995 and 2006.

Victory over Sawyer will set-up a game against Martin Phillips on Monday evening (7pm) in the last 32.

Welshman Phillips has reached the semi-final twice at Lakeside before, but this was back in 2010 and 2011.

Hogan said: “I am in the tough half of the draw and I will be taking it one game at the time. I have told work I will need Monday off, if I get through. Martin (Phillips) is a good player, but first I have to beat Tom ( Sawyer) and I know nothing about him."
